| Description | Aerial image, looking northeast, of the DeNooyer Brothers Automobile Dealership located on Portage Street in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. DeNooyer's dominates the center of the image including (on the left) the used car division at 301 Portage Street and (on the right) the service department and new car division at 353-377 Portage Street. In the middle of the dealership, between the used and new car areas is the old Club Hollywood, 329 Portage Street, which, as of 1957, houses the Consumers Power Company Gas Service Department. As of 2006, this entire complex,including the large water towers located behind the dealership, have been demolished. Portage Street runs from the left center edge to the right center edge, while Lovell Street runs from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. The business in the lower right corner is the A & W Root Beer Stand at 400 Portage Street (demolished). The business along the lower right edge is the Consumer Power Company Service Building at 403-435 Portage Street. (demolished). The large brick building near the lower left corner is part of the Upjohn Company. As of 2006, this building is now part of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and is slated for demolition. |
